Short Bio

Graham Lazorchak (b. 2002) is a composer, improviser, and arranger based in Arlington, Virginia. Lazorchak is interested in the connection between timbre, texture, and emotion. Lazorchak’s influences include contemporary and early 20th century concert music, as well as jazz, film music, and prog rock.

Their work has been performed by groups such as the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, and Metropolis Ensemble, as well as by members of TAK Ensemble and Ensemble Dal Niente.

Lazorchak is currently pursuing a BM in composition from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.

Graham Lazorchak (b. 2002) is a composer, improviser, and arranger based in Arlington, Virginia. Lazorchak is interested in the connection between timbre, texture, and emotion. Their music includes compositions for solo performers, chamber groups, and large ensembles. Lazorchak’s influences include contemporary and early 20th century concert music, as well as jazz, film music, and prog rock.

Their work has been performed by groups such as the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, and Metropolis Ensemble, as well as by members of TAK Ensemble and Ensemble Dal Niente. From 2018 to 2021, Lazorchak attended the Walden School Young Musicians Program, which greatly influenced their perspective on sound, music, space, and silence. In addition to composing original concert works, Lazorchak is a battery arranger for Washington-Liberty High School.

Lazorchak is currently pursuing a BM in composition from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where they have studied under the tutelage of Dr. Jesse Jones and Dr. Elizabeth Ogonek, in addition to Dr. Stephen Hartke, Dr. Michael Frazier, and Prof. Jihyun Kim. Further compositional mentors have included Dr. Daniel Felsenfeld and Dr. Dennis K. Sullivan II.
